Change Student Authentication on Poll Everywhere
In order to comply with the license of Poll Everywhere, it is advised by our service provider that students
are required to login their CPCE student accounts via single sign-on (SSO) in order to respond to teachers' polls.
Students are not allowed to login Poll Everywhere with their personal email account, nor login as guest.
1. What should teachers do
Since 2017, it is a system default setting that all newly created polls are set to require students' login.
Teachers are also reminded that "Who can respond" should not set to "Everybody"
and should set as "Registered participants only" in order to conform to the license.
2. How to conduct anonymous polling
If teachers want your students to respond your polls anonymously,
you can check "Make responses anonymous" under "Anonymity".
Please pay attention
that this setting cannot be undo, that means once checked it cannot be unchecked.
Once checked, all responses' identity on this poll will be permanently deleted.
3. Purge of Non-CPCE accounts and backup your polls’ response data
In 1st semester, it is found that numerous students respond with their personal email accounts or as guest.
In view of the license compliance, ITU shall remove
students’ personal accounts from Poll Everywhere on 3
February 2017 (Friday). By doing so, all responses made from these accounts will also be removed from the system.
Teachers are highly recommended to backup your polls’ response data before
the said date by referring to the user guide at http://it-training.cpce-polyu.edu.hk/mod/book/view.php?id=772&chapterid=1862.
