Dr Estella Zhao, Senior Lecturer of the Division of Languages and Communication of PolyU CPCE, was awarded the Third Prize for her work titled《媽媽的花園》 (Mother's Garden) in the 13th "Zhouzhuang Cup" National Children's Literature (Short Story) Contest. The award ceremony took place in Zhouzhuang on 18 May 2024.
The competition received over 3,000 submissions, and after the initial screening, 60 stories were selected. These stories then underwent another two rounds of rigorous anonymous evaluations by a panel of professional judges to select 25 winning works. Winners came from Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangxi, Sichuan, Heilongjiang, and Shanghai, etc. Dr. Zhao is the only awardee from Hong Kong.
