SHKP Hotels x PolyU CPCE Experiential Learning Programme Open Day Attracts Nearly 500 Students
PolyU CPCE and Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) held the “SHKP Hotels x PolyU CPCE Experiential Learning Programme” Open Day on 28 March 2023 at the PolyU West Kowloon Campus, attracting nearly 500 students.
PolyU CPCE and SHKP signed an MOU of the two-year internship programme earlier. SHKP will provide more than 200 hotel internship positions to PolyU CPCE students. Students will work in SHKP’s nine big hotels including Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong; The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong; W Hong Kong for a total of 500 hours of internship. After completing the internship, students will not only be awarded a certificate of commendation, but the hotels will also give priority to hiring them as full-time staff.
The nine hotels set up booths on the open day, and the hotel representatives introduced the work of different departments and the latest developments in the hotel industry to the participants.
Prof. Warren Chiu, PolyU CPCE Associate Dean (Education), believes that the collaboration provides valuable internship opportunities for students to unleash their potential and hone their professional skills before entering the workplace. The extensive work experience they gain during the internship will certainly boost their competitiveness as well.
Mr Michael Lam, Deputy Vice President (Asset Management), Hotel Division of SHKP, states that SHKP hopes that the internship programme will encourage more students to join the industry, providing new blood in the post-pandemic era and creating a win-win situation for both the hotels and the students.
