Mr Noble Lo, Lecturer at the Division of Languages and Communication of PolyU CPCE, delivered a keynote address at the Shenzhen–Hong Kong Joint English Teaching Research Activity, organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers in May 2026 at Shenzhen Arcadia Grammar School (Primary Division). The event brought together English teachers from Shenzhen and Hong Kong, serving as an important platform for cross-border professional exchange and academic collaboration in English education.
Recognised for his expertise in AI-integrated language education and assessment reform, Mr Lo introduced innovative approaches to reconstructing professional communication assessment in English teaching, with a focus on preparing students for future human–AI collaborative workplaces. His sharing centred on the AI-SELA Intelligent English Self-Assessment System, demonstrating how data-driven assessment can support precision teaching, differentiated instruction, and a shift from score-oriented evaluation to competency-based development. His presentation combined theoretical insight with practical classroom strategies, offering clear guidance for teachers seeking to integrate AI into everyday teaching practice.
Participants responded enthusiastically, noting that his strategies were practical and implementable. Many highlighted how the AI-SELA framework prompted them to reconsider traditional evaluation models, while his discussion on the ethical and responsible use of AI was praised as timely and forward-looking.
