Director Outlines Vision: Emphasising Interdisciplinary Programmes and a Strong Alumni Network
Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, Director of PolyU SPEED, stated, “In the face of the rapid development of AI and digital transformation, the School is launching several new interdisciplinary master’s programmes to integrate technology with the humanities, responding to the market’s demand for new types of professionals. Meanwhile, we are vigorously promoting the ‘Elite Ambassador Programme’ to leverage our extensive alumni network. This builds a bridge for students to deeply connect with industries in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, helping them transform what they have learned into practical networks and rapidly enhance their workplace competitiveness.”
Elite Ambassador Travels from the Mainland to Share GBA Opportunities
To showcase the School’s extensive alumni network and quality educational achievements, Ms Ma Xiaoyong—a former mainland TV host who was invited to join the PolyU SPEED Elite Ambassador Programme—travelled from the Chinese mainland to Hong Kong specifically to support this Info and Admission Day. As a graduate of PolyU SPEED’s Master of Arts in Chinese Creative Writing and Media Culture, she shared firsthand how the programme helped her profoundly experience the inseparable cultural connection within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Ms Ma expressed that the School not only imparts professional knowledge but also builds a valuable network of industry leaders, which has immensely supported her active engagement in cultural exchange and career development in the Greater Bay Area, making her an excellent role model for both mainland and local students.
Another interviewee at the event, Ms Wang Xing, a participant of the PolyU SPEED Elite Ambassador Programme and a graduate of the Master of Science in Green Business Management, shared how the programme facilitated corporate upgrading. Currently the CEO of a mainland home appliance enterprise, she pointed out that Hong Kong serves as the ultimate springboard for businesses connecting with the world. She highlighted that the practical knowledge on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and green supply chains acquired from the programme could be instantly applied to her company's operations. This effectively steers her business towards a more international management approach, which is immensely beneficial to its overall development.
