“Be the Star” Singing Contest Lights Up the Stage

On 9 October 2025, the “Be the Star” Singing Contest, organised by the Student Affairs Office of PolyU CPCE (CSAO), was successfully held at the PolyU West Kowloon Campus. This event aimed to provide a platform for students who are passionate about music to refine their vocal skills and showcase their talents through compelling performances.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, Director of PolyU SPEED and Associate Dean (Information and Development) of PolyU CPCE; Prof. Ricky Chan, Associate Dean (Education) of PolyU CPCE; Dr Anthony Loh, Director of PolyU HKCC and Division Head of the Division  of Science, Engineering and Health Studies; and Dr Helen Wong, Division Head of the Division of Business and Hospitality Management of PolyU CPCE.

Special guest performances by Mirror members Mr Jer Lau and Mr Jeremy Lee added star power to the contest.
After rigorous evaluation by a panel of professional judges, winners of all award categories were selected:

Champion: Lan Ka-hong “永不失聯的愛” (PolyU HKCC  Associate in English for Professional Communication, Year 2)
First runner-up and Best Costume Award: Ng Yuk-ki “Number One Girl” (PolyU HKCC Associate in Language and Culture, Year 2)
Second runner-up and Best Stage Presence Award: Lok Shun-yiu  “會再見的” (PolyU HKCC Higher Diploma in Social Work, Year 1)

Congratulations to all award recipients! We also extend heartfelt gratitude to every participant and judge for their dedication and support, which ensured the contest’s resounding success.
