“Gateway to Future” - Sustainable Fashion Styling & Catwalk Model Competition

PolyU CPCE Student Affairs Office (CSAO), in collaboration with Matchalike Social Enterprise Company Limited and Treasure Boutique (jointly established by the two parties), organised a “Sustainable Fashion Styling & Catwalk Model Competition” on 4 October 2024. This event allowed a group of fashion-loving students who support environmental sustainability to refresh second-hand clothing through styling techniques. This event not only provided a visual feast for the participants but also aimed to encourage everyone to reconsider the value of old clothes, understanding that fashion is not limited to new items and that second-hand clothing can still be styled in diverse ways, promoting a culture of clothing conservation. 

This event featured esteemed guests from PolyU CPCE, including Prof. Ricky Chan, Associate Dean (Education), Dr Helen Wong, Head of the Division of Business and Hospitality Management, Dr Esther Tong, Head of the Division of Languages and Communication, and Prof. Roger Chan, Head of the Division of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Design. Dr Joseph Lau, Head of Student Affairs, along with industry leaders, served as judges for this competition. 

The participating students took on the roles of stylists and models, applying unique styling techniques to transform second-hand clothing into personalised outfits and works of art. This not only showcased their creativity and talent, but also made second-hand clothing a current fashion trend!

Second Runner-Up: Chan Tsz-hei, Associate in Design (Visual Communication), PolyU HKCC

Second Runner-Up: Lam Tsz-lui, Associate of Science, PolyU HKCC
