Dr Joseph Lau, Head of Student Affairs of PolyU CPCE, was recently interviewed by TVB News programme “A Closer Look” to talk about the “Free Clothing Rental Pilot Programme for Hong Kong Youth” organised by Treasure Boutique, which was jointly established by PolyU CPCE Student Affairs Office and Matchalike Social Enterprise Company Limited.
The Programme enables young people to borrow second-hand clothes for free and makes use of innovative technology to promote the circulation of second-hand clothing in the market. “Boosting the second-hand clothing industry has multiple benefits: it can save transportation costs, reduce carbon emissions involved in the logistics supply chain, and facilitate the sustainable development of the local fashion industry,” said Dr Lau in the interview.
The Programme is one of many social projects launched by PolyU CPCE in collaboration with community organisations to serve society. Through promoting a culture of clothing conservation, it aims to raise environmental awareness and cultivate a sense of social responsibility among youngsters, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of society.
