On 27 June 2025, 14 students from PolyU HKCC participated in a Wagashi and Matcha Experience Workshop, co-organised by the Division of Languages and Communication of PolyU CPCE and JUNSUI, an online store specialising in Japanese confectionery and tea.
The workshop introduced the students to Japanese wagashi and tea culture, covering tea-tasting etiquette and hands-on guidance in crafting wagashi and matcha. Using prepared materials, the participants created their own sweets and whisked matcha, gaining insight into the artistry and rituals of Japanese tradition.
Designed to deepen cultural appreciation and complement PolyU HKCC’s Japanese-related curriculum, the activity received enthusiastic feedback from students, who described the experience as both educational and stress-relieving.
PolyU HKCC remains committed to integrating global perspectives into its learning environment, with this workshop marking another step in fostering cross-cultural understanding and engagement.
