From 17 to 19 September 2025, the PolyU West Kowloon Campus proudly hosted Phonetics 2025 Hong Kong, an international conference dedicated to phonetic research and its applications. The event opened with welcome remarks by Prof. Peter Yuen, Dean of PolyU CPCE, and was chaired by Dr Wience Lai, Associate Division Head of the Division of Languages and Communication.
Keynote speaker Prof. Niels Schiller from the City University of Hong Kong led a dynamic programme of presentations covering topics such as speech production, language acquisition, and digital linguistics. Bringing together leading phonetics scholars from around the world, the event served as a vibrant forum for global collaboration and highlighted the latest innovations in phonetic science.
