Joint Graduation Ceremony 2024 Confers Awards on Over 4,300 Graduates

Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and the School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED), the educational units of the PolyU-affiliated College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE), held their 22nd Joint Graduation Ceremony at PolyU’s Jockey Club Auditorium on 26 and 27 October 2024. PolyU HKCC and PolyU SPEED together sent forth over 4,300 sub-degree and bachelor’s degree graduates.

The Graduation Ceremony was officiated by Prof. Peter Yuen, Dean of PolyU CPCE.

Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, Director of PolyU SPEED and Associate Dean (Information and Development) of PolyU CPCE, participated in the graduation ceremony for the first time as Director of PolyU SPEED. In his speech, he stated, “This year marks the 25th anniversary of PolyU SPEED, and the number of students enrolled this year has reached a record high, making it a significant milestone for our 25th anniversary. I am delighted to witness this historic moment with all of you as we celebrate this silver jubilee.”

Dr Anthony Loh, Director of PolyU HKCC and Division Head of the Division of Science, Engineering, and Health Studies of PolyU CPCE, was so proud of the graduates' articulation performance. He said, “PolyU HKCC has helped nearly 42,000 graduates articulate to degree programmes; the quality of our graduates is evident. The successful accomplishments indicate that PolyU HKCC is able to provide high-quality and well-recognised programmes, a professional teaching team, and diverse student activities, striving to create an ideal learning environment for students.”

PolyU HKCC Articulation Rate Reaches 90.3%, Exceeding 90% for 5 Consecutive Years 
According to the PolyU HKCC Graduate Survey 2024 with a response rate of 85.1%, a total of 2,623 graduates articulated to bachelor’s degree programmes, representing a high articulation rate of 90.3%. Among the articulated graduates, 79.7% (2,091) were admitted to degree programmes leading to awards of the 8 UGC-funded universities (including self-financed programmes, 69.3% (1,818) were admitted to degree programmes (including self-financed programmes) leading to awards of the world's top 100 universities in Hong Kong (according to QS World University Rankings 2025), namely PolyU, HKU, CUHK, HKUST, and CityU.

All these figures bear testimony to the fact that PolyU HKCC offers S6 graduates the best non-JUPAS pathway. 

From the first cohort of graduates in 2003 to the latest batch in 2024, nearly 42,000 PolyU HKCC graduates have articulated to bachelor’s degree studies. This represents a 22-year average articulation rate of 84.7%. (Click here for details of the PolyU HKCC Graduate Survey 2024.)

PolyU CPCE’s “2+2” Articulation Pathway Helps Graduates Obtain a Degree Awarded by PolyU

PolyU CPCE offers a flexible “2+2” articulation pathway to PolyU HKCC graduates who, after successfully completing their 2-year sub-degree study, can articulate to the 2-year honours degree programmes of PolyU SPEED. As usual, many PolyU HKCC graduates in 2024 chose to pursue their degree studies at PolyU SPEED so as to earn a degree awarded by PolyU, a world top 100 university.
