PolyU CPCE and Walailak University, Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the PolyU West Kowloon Campus on 24 February 2026.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Peter Yuen, Dean of PolyU CPCE, and Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University. This partnership aims to foster academic and educational collaboration.

Under the MoU, PolyU CPCE and Walailak University will explore cooperation in areas including:

  • Exchange of academic staff and students
  • Joint research and promotion of research outputs
  • Participation in internationally funded projects
  • Joint extra-curricular activities for students

Walailak University is a distinguished institution in Thailand, recognised for its commitment to research and sustainability. It has been recognised as a Global and Frontier Research University by Thailand's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

The University boasts the largest campus in Southeast Asia, which includes a state-of-the-art hospital, Walailak University Hospital, serving as a medical school and a major healthcare provider in the region.

Walailak University is also a leader in sustainability, ranked joint 82nd globally in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025.
