On 19 September 2025, PolyU CPCE and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the new Master of Science in Engineering Project Management* programme offered by PolyU SPEED, an educational unit under PolyU CPCE.

The MoU, signed by Prof. Peter Yuen, Dean of PolyU CPCE, and Ir Chris Cheung, Vice Chancellor of CLP Power Academy, builds on a fruitful partnership established in 2018. Over the years, this alliance has successfully delivered undergraduate top-up degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, contributing to the development of industry-ready talent.

The new master’s programme blends engineering, computer science and business skills, with a strong focus on AI integration and safety. It is designed to equip students with the expertise to lead complex engineering projects and enhance operational efficiency across sectors. Tailored to meet the needs of Hong Kong’s rapidly evolving engineering landscape, the programme reflects a forward-looking approach to professional education. Graduates will obtain a master’s degree awarded by PolyU, one of the world’s top 100 universities.

“This initiative highlights the vital role of academia-industry collaboration,” said Prof. Yuen. “Such partnerships ensure our programmes remain relevant, our research impactful, and our graduates equipped with the skills employers truly need. By working closely with industry leaders like CLP Power, we bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application—cultivating a learning environment that is both forward-thinking and deeply grounded in real-world experience.”

Ir Chris Cheung said, “By equipping engineering professionals with advanced competencies in engineering management, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation, this programme addresses critical capability needs of the evolving energy sector. It also reflects CLP Power’s ongoing commitment to talent development, innovation, and the sustainable advancement of Hong Kong’s energy future.”

This programme is now open for application for its first intake in January 2026.

*This programme is subject to the final approval by PolyU in mid-December 2025. There may be changes to curriculum and subjects subsequent to the approval.
