On 13 September 2025, more than 140 master’s students from PolyU SPEED’s MA in AI and Technology-assisted Language Teaching and MA in Chinese Creative Writing and Media Culture programmes attended the Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum (DELF) 2025 hosted by Cyberport. The event offered an immersive experience of the transformative potential of technologies like AI in areas such as digital entertainment, arts and culture.
The students participated in AI-powered creative sessions where they scripted murder mystery games and designed virtual influencers for platforms like RedNote. They also witnessed a milestone in AI cinema with the screening of China’s first AI-generated feature film “Pirate Queen: Zheng Yi Sao”.
Other activities included 3D scanning for the digital preservation of cultural heritage, while the “Language as Cultural Bridge” workshop introduced AI writing assistants developed by Hong Kong Shue Yan University, guiding participants in crafting Chinese business letters and English research reports. The students also connected with indie game developers, gaining valuable market insights and expanding their professional networks.
In addition, Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, Director of PolyU SPEED and Associate Dean (Information and Development) of PolyU CPCE, attended the panel discussion titled “Transforming Education with AI: Lightening Teachers’ Load, Inspiring Student Growth” as a guest speaker. He shared insights on how AI can support educators and inspire students to reach their full learning potential.
Through this forum, the students not only broadened their technological horizons but also gained firsthand experience of how AI is reshaping the creative industries and educational models—laying a solid foundation for their future endeavors in the fields of digital culture and technology.
