The HKHS Award, established by the Hong Kong Housing Society to support talent development for Hong Kong’s housing and elderly-care industries, recognises students with excellent academic performance in related disciplines and provides financial assistance to those in need.
The awardees will become members of the Hong Kong Housing Society Academy Alumni Club, whose aim is to support the personal and professional development of scholarship and bursary recipients by providing a wide variety of community service programmes and learning opportunities.
The ceremony also featured Ms Janet Kung, an awardee of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection 2024, who shared her inspiring journey. As Hong Kong's only female ice climbing mountaineer and the “Queen of Bun Scrambling,” Janet overcame numerous challenges to reach the pinnacle of snow mountains. She encouraged the awardees to use their scholarships for self-enhancement and to face challenges with determination, just like ice climbing. She also urged students to push beyond their limits and create meaningful lives for themselves and the community. The awardees were deeply inspired by her sharing.
