Congratulations to Mr Mak Hoi-chuen, Assistant Technical Officer in the Division of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Design of PolyU CPCE, on his remarkable achievement at the Design Skill Awards 2024 presented by Design Skill Magazine!
Mr Mak’s exquisite joinery work, which masterfully preserves the traditional Chinese technique of joining wooden boards without the use of glue or nails, earned Platinum honours in three categories:
  • Best Furniture Design for Small Spaces (Furniture)
  • Custom & Unique Furniture Design (Furniture)
  • Best DIY & Craft Supplies Design (Product)

Having inherited his exceptional craftsmanship from his father, Mr Mak is passionate about passing down these time-honoured techniques to those eager to refine and preserve the artistry of traditional joinery.
