Message from the Head

Welcome to the Division of Social Sciences, Humanities and Design.

Our Division supports the sub-degree programmes and the articulation honours degree programmes offered respectively by Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and the School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED). In the area of Social Sciences, we offer the Associate Degree Scheme in Applied Social Sciences and the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) Scheme with specialisms in Psychology, Counselling, Social Policy, and Sociology and Culture. In the area of Design, we offer the Associate Degree Scheme in Design with specialisms in Advertising Design, Environment and Interior Design, Moving Image and Interaction Design, and Visual Communication and the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Applied and Media Arts, and Media and Communication Design programme. In addition, we also have the Higher Diploma in Social Work, a professional programme accredited by the Social Workers Registration Board. Programmes aside, our Division also offers a variety of General Education subjects covering Human Nature, Philosophy, History, Cultures and Social Sciences.

Currently, our Division has more than 60 academic staff members with various academic and professional expertise. This diverse mix nurtures and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty members in learning and teaching, programme development as well as scholarly activities.
