CPCE Active Scholar Awards

Starting 2021, CPCE presents the Active Scholar Awards annually to recognise the outstanding contributions and commitment of CPCE academic members who have actively published their research findings.

The following academic staff members were honoured in 2024:

CPCE Active Scholar Awards 2024

Dr Bill XU, Assistant Programme Director and Senior Lecturer [BHM]	My research interests focus on consumption experience, tourism and hospitality marketing, brand management, sports tourism, cruise and theme park management, cultural studies, and more.	I am so happy to have obtained this award again, which proves my constant research endeavours and commitment. I would like to thank PolyU CPCE, BHM, my colleagues and family members for their support. This achievement would not have been possible without their support.
Dr Daisy LEE, Senior Lecturer [BHM]	Social Marketing, Sustainable Marketing, Digital Marketing and Strategic Communications.	I am truly grateful to be recognised with the Active Scholar Award. This award reflects my research group's collaborative efforts and ongoing support from the BHM division. This recognition inspires me to continue my pursuit of knowledge and research contributions.
Dr Edmund WUT, Senior Lecturer [BHM]	My research interests cover corporate social responsibility, crisis management, education technologies and research methods.	I am delighted to receive the CPCE Active Scholar Award again. I would like to thank my Division, the CPCE research committee, my co-authors and my family members. PolyU CPCE has provided support for my research by offering internal research funding and conference expenses.
Dr Angela TAM, Senior Lecturer [LC]	Feedback Literacy, AI-Assisted Language Learning, Learning through Play, Professional Learning Community, Language Education, Medium of Instruction and Policy, School-Based Curriculum and Assessment, Curriculum Leadership, and Teachers’ Beliefs in Teaching and Learning.	I am thrilled to have received the CPCE Active Scholar Award for four consecutive years. This prestigious accolade carries significant meaning for me, as it not only recognises the value of my research contributions but also strengthens my dedication to making meaningful and impactful progress in my field. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to PolyU CPCE and the Division of Languages and Communication for cultivating a collegial, dynamic, pluralistic, and supportive environment that fosters innovative research. This stimulating academic atmosphere has played a pivotal role in boosting my self-confidence, nurturing a forward-thinking mindset, and preparing me to embrace changes with an open and adaptive approach. I eagerly anticipate the future and the exciting opportunities that await me as I lead a funded project granted by the Research Grants Council from 2025 to 2027, as well as embark on new research endeavours, and engage in collaborative initiatives.
Mr Noble LO Lecturer [LC]	Gamification, Motivation and Engagement, Assessment and Feedback, Education Policy, International Law and Comparative Law.	I am deeply honoured to receive the CPCE Active Scholar Award 2024, which recognises the dedication and hard work I have invested in my diverse fields of study. I am particularly grateful for the flexibility and support PolyU CPCE has provided, enabling me to explore various research areas and collaborate with scholars from different disciplines. This award not only highlights my contributions to the academic community but also reinforces my motivation to continue pursuing impactful research. I must extend my heartfelt thanks to my PhD supervisor, who has consistently offered insightful guidance and support throughout my academic journey. Thanks also go to my co-authors, colleagues, and the research committee for their invaluable advice and assistance.
Dr Wilson LEUNG, Senior Lecturer [SEHS]	Gerontechnology Adoption, Healthcare technology User Behavior, AI Application, Blockchain technology Applications, Virtual Reality Applications, Consumer Trust, and Social commerce.	It is my honour to receive this award from PolyU CPCE. I would like to thank the College for providing opportunities and resources to support my research. I would also also like to express my gratitude to my research assistants and collaborators who always facilitate my work. I am enthusiastic to keep up my work and contribute more research to the Information Systems field. Thank you!
Dr Emily HUANG, Lecturer [SEHS]	Carbon Nanomaterials, Green Energy Conversion, Plastic Degradation and Wearable Electronic Sensors.	I am particularly honoured to receive the CPCE Active Scholar Award 2024, which recognises my previous scientific research. Thank you to the CPCE Academic Committee for their support and trust. I also want to thank my colleagues and friends who have provided me with help and support in scientific research this year. In the future, I will continue to advance on the path of scientific research.
Dr Sheheryar KHAN Lecturer [SEHS]	Artificial Intelligence in Health Care, Pattern Recognition, Medical Image Processing and Deep Learning.	I am truly grateful for being selected as a recipient of the CPCE Active Scholar Award 2024. The recognition of my research activities is a great motivator for me to uphold research excellence and contribute meaningfully to my field. The support provided by the CPCE Research Office has been invaluable, and I am excited about future research prospects. Thank you for giving me this prestigious honour and continuous support.
Dr Claire SHI, Lecturer [SEHS]	Flexible Electronics, Bio-integrated Electronics, Soft Robots, Human-machine Interfaces and Microfluidic Technology.	I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the CPCE Research Committee for this remarkable honour and their confidence in my potential. I am also deeply thankful for the unwavering support of my lab members and supervisors. This award serves as a powerful motivation for me to continue pursuing excellence in academia and to collaborate with others in advancing our field of knowledge. Thank you once again to the CPCE Research Committee for believing in me!
Dr Chun-wing LEE, Lecturer [SSHD]	Social inequality, Social and Political Aspects of Sports.	Doing research is simultaneously a fruitful and painful experience. I am delighted to receive this award because it increases the positive aspect of my research journey. I would like to thank the CPCE Research Committee, and also others (including research assistants and research participants) who made it possible for me to carry out various research projects.
