| Contemporary poetics, grief and mourning, creative writing, service-learning, digital storytelling, Hong Kong theatre, and English language education | It is an honour and a surprise to receive the CPCE Active Scholar Award for the second consecutive year. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the College, our Division of Languages and Communication, the CPCE Research Office, my fellow researchers, and my hardworking colleagues for their continued support and inspiration. This recognition reaffirms the importance of creating spaces where independent thinking and diverse perspectives, including those from the humanities, can thrive. I see research and knowledge production as taking both “slow” and “fast” forms: slow scholarship cultivates depth and rigour, while responsive scholarship addresses urgent contemporary questions and pressing issues. My forthcoming book with Routledge, Seamus Heaney and Contemporary Elegy , reflects the former — a sustained and careful engagement with poetry, loss, and the enduring human need to grieve and make meaning. My research collaborations with Dr Cheung Lok Ming and Dr Lo On Ting, on the other hand, respond timely to AI and its impact on higher education. Both forms of scholarship matter, and both deserve to be championed. |
